Abandonment
|
|
in law, is the relinquishment or renunciation of an interest, claim, privilege, possession or right, especially with the intent of never again resuming or reasserting it.Such intentional action may take the form of a discontinuance or a waiver.

|
|
A unique set of digits or characters assigned to a user to allow access to specific operations within the system.

|
|
An indication of the degree of access that a person has to a computer system. This typically is shown by a numeric value with 9 indicating the least amount of access and 1 indicating access to the most sensitive information.

Accessorial Charges
|
|
Large parcel carriers, such as United Parcel Service (UPS) and FedEx, often include an array of accessorial charges (like fuel and residential delivery surcharges) in addition to their standard fees. The US Postal Service (USPS) offers low-cost options for small package delivery to the home, such as Parcel Select and Parcel Post. However, many merchants prefer low-cost shipping options without sacrificing visibility of their parcels while in transit ("track and trace"). The US Postal Service does offer a limited "Delivery Confirmation" for even their lowest-cost package delivery services, but more robust tracking is currently not available through the federal agency

|

|
A change to the quantity of an on-hand item of inventory, either positive or negative. Adjustments can occur because of damages, missing or found inventory, quality control, and so on.

|
|
A form which the vendor sends in response to a purchase order (PO). It lists the products in the shipment, the estimated time and date of arrival, and (optionally) carrier and payment data. Vendors may send the advance shipping notice in hard copy or electronically.

A message that is displayed and recorded to signal that a change of status has occurred in the system. An alarm message usually alerts an operator to the fact that something has gone wrong. However, the message also might simply be informational.

Automated Guided Vehicle
|
|
Abbreviated as AGV. A vehicle equipped with automatic guidance equipment, either electromagnetic or optical. Such a vehicle is capable of following prescribed guide paths and may be equipped for vehicle programming and stop selection, blocking, and any other special functions required by the system.

Automated Storage/Retrieval System

|
Abbreviated as AS/RS or ASRS. 1) A system of storage racks served by automated storage and retrieval machines with computermaintained location control. The control computer provides direction to the material handling equipment to move product into and out of the storage rack. 2) A combination of equipment and controls that handle, store, and retrieve materials with precision, accuracy, and speed under a defined degree of automation. Systems vary from relatively simple, manually controlled order-picking machines operating in small storage structures to large, computer-controlled storage and retrieval systems totally integrated into the manufacturing and distribution process.

Abbreviated as BOL. A carrier's or shippers contract and receipt for goods, listing the goods being delivered.

|
|
A type of entity to whom you send the bill for a transaction. The Shipment Order form allows you to explicitly specify a bill-to entity. You can also enter a bill-to entity in fields that dont constrain the entity type, such as the Seller entity in a purchase order. You can create entities of the Bill-to type, and you can also fill in bill-to information for any type of entity.

|
|
1) As pertains to the HK750, this is a storage partition in a tote pan. 2) As pertains to the HK4000, this is a storage location within a rack. Also, a container which may hold one or more items and/or item types. A bin is kept in a storage location and can be subdivided into smaller compartments.

|

1) A pallet typically constructed of one continuous piece of plywood usually without built-in fork truck access. 2) A pallet made to be used within one functional area of a material handling system, for example, only within the warehouse or only between receiving and a Unit-Load storage area.

|

A series of linked bin locations mounted on a continuous oval horizontal or vertical track. When the carousel drive system is activated, the bins revolve, bringing the desired bin to the operator.

The container or conveyance used to hold material while it is transported from one location to another. Possible carriers include pallets and tote pans.

A series of links pivotally joined together to form a medium for conveying or transmitting motion or power.

|
|
A general classification of powered unithandling conveyors in which the load-
carrying surfaces are the side bars of a pair of` chains. The chains move along a guide track supported by a frame.

A power transmission device employing a drive chain and sprockets.

A specific type of conveyor that has a sprocket on each roller that interacts with a chain to rotate the rollers.

|

|
|
An inventory monitoring process. In cycle counting by location, RF operators count the number of IDs in a location or range of locations. In cycle counting by ID, RF operators count the number of a particular load ID in the facility. Cycle counting identifies inventory discrepancies, missing or found inventory, damaged inventory, and so on.

|
|
A designated position on the AGV guidepath that allows a specific activity to occur at the location. Events are one of two types: magnetic, or virtual. Magnetic events are physical events, because the vehicle sees a marker magnet. A virtual event is when the computer identifies a event that doesn't have a physical counterpart to which it is associated. An event is also a system action that is not dependent upon time.

|
|
When product is loaded and shipped to customers, an expected receipt for its
return is created. When the control system is informed of an item coming to the facility, it creates an expected receipt record for this product.

Instead of counting the individual parts every time they are requested, a person can simply request the package or several packages by using the SKU.

Unit of measure. A quantity or package for a product. When you receive, ship, or move inventory, you must identify which UOM you are using. For instance, if you place an order for 10 SKU #2s, you must say whether you want 10 cases, 10 eaches, 10 pallets, and so on. See Pack Key.

Vehicle Traffic Controller
|
|
Abbreviated as VTC. The VTC controls the vehicle movement in the guidepath. In older hardware configurations, the VTC was connected to the RTRS. In newer hardware configurations , the function of the VTC and RTRS are performed by the AGVC.

This refers to a second computer which is available to complete the operation in the event of primary equipment failure. 1) A platform scale on which the AGV will stop. The resultant weight data
is sent via discrete wiring from the scale to the AGVC. The scale straddles the guidepath. 2) A section of conveyor containing a scale to determine the weight of a load or a load overweight condition.

A logical group of locations. You may create zones that reflect the type of storage common to its locations (cold storage, rack), the type of equipment that can access the locations (crane, fork), or the type of activity that goes on in locations (casepick, receiving). The putaway sequence for commodities may include zones as well as locations.

|
|
Each HK750 (Mini-Load) aisle and delivery cart as well as the classified vault
has a Zone Task Queue. This queue holds all the tasks that need to be executed within a given area, i.e. zone.
